Note: TJMs Stainless Steel products with mirror finish surfaces are not impervious to environmental contamination from airborne acids and oxide particles and will most likely require periodic maintenance.

Some of our customers have expressed the opinion that Stainless Steel cannot rust if it is ‘real stainless’. Despite the fact that TJMs products are made from high grade Stainless Steel, this statement is not always true because of the diversity of the alloys that are used in production and the fact that no raw material is 100% pure and therefore totally devoid of contaminants.

Regular maintenance will ensure that the product continues to look as good as it did the day it was fitted to the vehicle and it is important that owners recognize they have a part to play in this process. Without proper maintenance, rust spots on the surface and especially around joins, that are caused by impurities in the metal or oxide particles in the air, will potentially develop further causing damage to the surface of the product. These surface damages can be removed with a polish or a fine abrasive.

For stainless steel maintenance TJM recommends the Durosol product called Autosol or other products similar to it.
