One of Queensland’s most renowned 4x4 parks is The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park located in the Granite Belt region about 20 minutes south of Warwick. The Springs is an outback paradise which sits 900m above sea level and sees thousands of visitors every year ranging from novice to professional 4x4 enthusiasts. How to get there?
The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park is easy to find and situated roughly 25km south of Warwick in the Granite Belt region. The Park is only a short drive from Brisbane (190km), the Gold Coast, and Tenterfield (85km).
Along with being a superior food and wine destination, the Granite Belt region in South East Queensland is a breathtaking area surrounded by national parks and prehistoric granite formations. Fruit growers are aplenty with an abundance of strawberries, cherries, apples, and stone fruits. There are also several historic sandstone buildings in the area including St Marys Catholic Church at Warwick, the Town Hall, the Police Station, as well as the Stream Train Rail Museum.
The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park is celebrated for its range of 4x4 tracks and hosts regular competitions. Offering varying standards of tracks for all 4x4 enthusiasts, the Springs has tracks winding throughout the 700 acres of beautiful terrain. From simple touring to extreme hill climbs and rock tracks, 4WDing at the Springs caters for all types of drivers with varying degrees of confidence and experience. Most visitors will spend the day exploring the area and its various 4x4 tracks along with seeing the natural attractions where you can stop, have a picnic lunch or simply admire the views. Bald Hill and Love Hill offer stunning 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. All the tracks are signposted, named, and graded for difficulty and you can pick up a detailed map when you enter the park. One of the highlights of the Springs is the Beer O Clock Hill challenge which starts at 4pm every Saturday!
With over 700 acres of land, there’s plenty of space to pitch a tent! The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park has several camping areas available to guests with are accessible by both 2WDs, 4WDs, and caravans. The main campsite is located only 1.5kms into the property which is situated in a gorgeous gully with its own creek and rock escarpment. All campsites at the Springs are secluded and have plenty of shade with free potable bore water. The kiosk sells firewood along with basic items like ice, bread, milk, drinks, and ice-cream and there are also Swap N Go gas cylinders available at the office.
The main campsite has a modern toilet block with flushing toilets and hot showers (perfect after a long day in the park)! While none of the campsites are powered, you can bring your own generator which can be used up until 9pm. There’s also no barbecue facilities so you’ll need to bring your own cooking equipment. Dogs are permitted at the park as long as they’re leashed and campfires are allowed in designated fire pits.
How much does it cost?
The Springs 4x4 Adventure Park is open from 9am on Friday morning till dusk on Sunday evening. You can book the Park during weekdays and school holidays but you must call ahead and make an appointment first. The Springs caters for large groups and functions and have been home to weddings, music festivals, and charity markets. A single day entry into the park costs $25 per vehicle and if you wish to camp overnight, the cost is $40 per vehicle.
