The weather’s getting warmer, the rains are moving on, there’s more daylight in the day (depending on where you’re from) – it looks like camping season is just around the corner! Obviously, we’re all excited about finally loading up our gear again and spending some time roughing it in the bush or along the coast, without the dread of icy mornings spoiling the experience.

However, before we start throwing our gear in the car, it’s important to note that the next few months (even weeks if you’re champing at the bit to hit the road) presents the perfect opportunity for you to access your current gear and identify if anything could do with an upgrade.

It may seem like a rather tedious task but when you’re immersed in nature and those couple days away manifest into a week or two because you’re having such a good time, you’ll want to have a campsite that’s comfortable, relaxing and offers that true home away from home feel.

And if you’re waking up each morning with a sore back because your tent or swag is too small and virtually falling apart, or you can’t see a thing at night because your camp lights aren’t powerful enough, that’s not exactly going to make your camping experience a good one, is it?

Sure, the night sky can boost light levels, but when it’s cloudy, and you’ve got first-timers along for the camping experience, the deep blackness of night can be scary and become a huge deterrent to many taking the campsite plunge.

The answer? Camping lights. And we’ve got five new additions you’re going to want to hear about.

 

TJM Double Swag

About to set off on your next camping adventure? Well, picture this for a second. Imagine hiking all day until the sun sets or until you’ve reached that secret camping spot you heard about, away from the crowds and next to your very own part of the river.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, with the TJM Double Swag, this reality could soon be yours.

With enough room for two, the TJM Swag is crafted from 400gsm Ripstop canvas that's more than equipped to withstand the harsh Australian climate, no matter the season. It also features a raised and reinforced 500gsm PVC bucket floor, along with an extremely resilient high-density foam mattress complete with a removable and washable cover.

So, you’re going to stay dry and protected. But what about comfort? The TJM Double Swag features a built-in awning and entrance mat to keep water, dirt and anything else you don’t want to interrupt your sleep outside. You’ll also enjoy added ventilation with mesh windows and doors, complete with integrated storm protection for wet conditions, and internal pockets to keep essentials at arm’s reach. There’s also a ridge pole for structural peace of mind and a storage bag making transportation an absolute breeze.

 

TJM Firepit & Grill

Whether it’s freezing cold at night or you’re sick of living off muesli bars and other instant foods, the TJM Fire Pit & Grill makes all the difference.

For starters, it can be set up and packed away in seconds thanks to its easy, and rather novel, assemble/dissemble design that’s made up of just five 3 mm Corten Steel plates – with anti-corrosive coating for all-year use. 

Once assembled, it spans 640 mm long and 425 mm wide, offering a large heating area of 34L, expertly spreading warmth to all corners of its rectangular shape. It also comes with a grill tray, with a cooking surface of 360 mm x 285 mm, so you and fellow campers can cook that freshly caught fish or bacon in the morning for a hearty breakfast.

And for added safety and visual appeal, the base of the fire pit has been raised to significantly reduce the chances of grass burn, while strategically placed cut-outs allow for easy transportation and offer an accentuated look.

 

TJM Headlamp with Motion Sensor

When the sun goes down in the bush, you can hardly see a thing in front of you. And sometimes you’re busy carrying steaks to the barbecue, buckets of water to put out the fire, or you’ve just got your hands full – literally. 

However, with the TJM Headlamp in tow, that’s a different story altogether. This novel headlamp features an enduring elastic adjustable headband, 5 interchangeable brightness modes, IPx7 water rating and can swivel up to 30 degrees, so you can select your perfect beam direction. It’s also naturally lightweight, comes with a rechargeable lithium battery and even a USB charging port for all your portable devices!
